About Zahav
Philadelphia's best-known Israeli kitchen still works the same way: a spread of salatim, hummus and laffa hot from the oven to start, then grilled skewers, fish and the pomegranate-glazed lamb shoulder that tables order to share, with malabi or stuffed dates to finish. The room is warm wood and soft lighting with a long bar of high stools where plenty of guests eat, plus outdoor tables in fine weather. It won the James Beard Award for Outstanding Restaurant in 2019 and is recommended in the Michelin Guide. Dinner runs Tuesday to Saturday from 5pm to 9:30pm; Sunday and Monday are closed. With more than 3,100 Google reviews averaging 4.6, praise centers on the hummus, the Moroccan carrots, the lamb carpaccio and staff who adapt dishes for children, while a handful of recent reviews found the service distracted. Book well ahead for weekends; smart-casual dress fits.
