About Barclay Prime

The dining room on 18th Street takes its cue from a European library: chartreuse and green banquettes, marble tables, shelving, crystal chandeliers and a lounge for a cocktail before dinner. The menu updates the steakhouse rather than reinventing it: dry-aged porterhouse and ribeye, raw-bar oysters, lobster bisque, sea bass and scallops, sides of truffle mac and cheese, creamed spinach and truffle mashed potatoes, popovers, and the Barclay Prime Cheesesteak that has long been its calling card. Before the mains, a selection of steak knives is presented to choose from. Service is the headline in reviews, 4.7 from about 1,750, and the room handles birthdays, anniversaries and private dinners with ease; one reviewer felt the decor was due a refresh. Hours are 5pm to 10pm daily, until 11pm on Friday and Saturday, with a happy hour at the bar and smart dress the norm.
