About Bastet
One of the newer rooms in Philadelphia's underground scene, the club takes its name from the Egyptian cat goddess of protection, joy and pleasure and occupies two levels of a brick loft building on Spring Garden Street. A pink-and-red lighting scheme and a sound system that reviewers repeatedly call pristine set it apart, and one compared the upstairs room to a quality Brooklyn club. Friday and Saturday run from 10 PM to 3:30 AM, well beyond the usual 2 AM finish, with lineups of local house and techno talent and a regular goth night. The crowd is welcoming, LGBTQ+ friendly and there to dance, and the club is Black-owned. Cover runs around $30 and some reviewers note an automatic 20% gratuity at the bar, which, together with curt security, accounts for the only real complaints. Google shows 4.5 on just 26 reviews, so the track record is still short.
