About Mujō
A near-black room with a single blond-wood counter sets the stage, the chefs finishing each course in front of the guests and serving pieces as they are completed. Recent standouts include kuzukiri noodles, Hokkaido uni, marinated bluefin, spotted knifejaw, blackthroat sea perch and fatty tuna hand rolls, with foie gras, caviar and a sesame ice cream along the way. Drinks are a strength: inventive cocktails, a Japanese whisky list and sake pairings. Service is attentive to the point of folding napkins, and it holds a Michelin star for 2025. The soundtrack surprises some, and one diner likened the hip-hop volume to a concert. Seatings run Tuesday to Saturday evenings and walk-ins are rarely possible, so reserve ahead. One party reported a bill of over a thousand dollars for three after tip, and a minority found the pieces small and the room plainer than the photos.
