About MJQ Concourse
Open since 1994, MJQ has moved into a suite beneath Underground Atlanta downtown, and the formula survived the relocation. Inside are a pair of bars, a broad wooden dance floor, a small stage that hosts bands as well as selectors, and a red-lit booth under a neon sign warning off song requests. It opens Wednesday through Saturday from 11pm until 4am. Music moves between hip-hop, house, throwbacks and themed parties, and the crowd is famously mixed; the owners call it a melting pot, and Google lists it as LGBTQ+ friendly and a transgender safe space. Reviews single out low drink prices and a line that moves quickly, with advance tickets skipping it entirely. One guest found the new room a little bright for mingling, and a recent review reports a serious clash with door security. It averages 4.2 from nearly 700 ratings, and cover usually sits between $20 and $30.
