About May Peel
Below the historic Hotel Granada, the room wraps velvet booths around small round tables under globe lights, with a gold-lit bar at one end and a quieter side away from the music. The menu, titled Cocktails and Frivolous Affairs, leans on classics such as the Champagne Cocktail, Jack Rose, Corpse Reviver No. 2 and Bobby Burns, with spirit-free versions on offer, plus a short snacking list of croquettes, sliders, charcuterie and a chips and dip one guest was still thinking about three days later. On Friday and Saturday nights the music comes up, though never so far that conversation suffers. It opens only Wednesday to Saturday, from 6 p.m. until midnight or 1 a.m. Drinks are priced at the top of the Midtown range, with one reviewer reporting nearly $30 for a vodka gimlet, but the bar team is praised by name, valet parking is available, and Google rates it 4.3 from 58 reviews.
