About La Cueva
A rock-hewn tunnel opens into a room washed in ember-red light, with a glowing stone bar, marble tables and curved booths set into alcoves. The owners bill it as a listening room, and nights move between live bands, often jazz, and recorded sets one guest called very cosmopolitan. Dinner is taken seriously: tender short rib, branzino, gnocchi, a smash burger, Brussels sprouts and sugared doughnuts recur in reviews, and the Buford Highway and Pathfinder are the cocktails people name. Hours are 5 to 11 p.m. Monday to Wednesday and until 1 a.m. Thursday to Saturday; Sunday is closed. Reservations are effectively required. Walk-ins face long, shifting waits, several recent reviews describe a brusque door, and small cubby tables absorb overflow when the room is full, so booking ahead and confirming seating matters. When it works, guests rank it among their favorite nights out in Atlanta for birthdays and anniversaries.
