About Yvonne's
Behind a discreet door on a brick lane, the rooms open up in stages: a long bar under crystal chandeliers and ornate plasterwork, a book-lined library room, red velvet armchairs and mustard tufted banquettes, all in marble and mahogany. Guests call it a speakeasy, and the lighting stays low. The menu is built for sharing, with lobster dumplings, tuna crudo, steak tartare, pita and trumpet mushrooms, finished with a baked Alaska. Theatre and ballet audiences use it for early dinners, and the bar and lounge carry on long after the kitchen, until 1 a.m. most nights and 2 on Friday and Saturday. The house is strict about time: tables are held for two hours, late arrivals lose part of their slot, and groups wanting only drinks and dessert have been turned away. Reviewers still rate it 4.5 across 3,705 Google reviews, and Time Out ranks it among Boston's top bars.
