About Select Oyster Bar

Exposed brick, a pop-art fish mural and a chalkboard of the day's crudo frame a zinc bar lined with stools and a few high communal tables, all squeezed into a townhouse ground floor on Gloucester Street. The kitchen keeps preparations simple: local oysters by the dozen, towered seafood platters, salmon and hamachi crudo, tuna tartare, white anchovies, arctic char, swordfish, a lobster roll and a house bouillabaisse. Solo diners and couples take the bar, where regulars say some of the younger bartenders are the best in the room, though others report long gaps once the first order is in. Every check carries a 20% service charge, which catches first-timers off guard. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. daily and close at 9:30, or 10:30 on Friday and Saturday, so it works for lunch as well as dinner. Google reviewers rate it 4.5 over 1,058 reviews.
