About Shore Leave
A plain door on William E Mullins Way leads down two flights to a basement fitted out like a tiki hideaway: rope-wrapped posts, rattan lanterns, shelves of ceramic tiki mugs, a canopy of string lights and a mirror ball over the bar. The rum selection is large and the cocktails lean tropical, served in skull, coconut and novelty mugs, with the house namesake drink a favorite. The kitchen crosses Asian bar food with sushi, from spicy tuna rolls and namnam noodles to wings with kimchi ranch, and there is an omakase option for a full meal. Occasional games, including a Jell-O shot contest, keep the mood loose. Reviewers call it easy to book on a Saturday and affordable for the area. Hours are 5pm to midnight Tuesday to Thursday and until 1am on Friday and Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday. Google rates it 4.5 from about 610 reviews.
