About Wa Shin
Blond wood, backlit shelves of ceramics and small bonsai surround a counter where chefs in whites slice and form each piece in front of guests. The meal is an Edomae-style omakase of around 18 courses, with much of the fish flown overnight from Japan; reviewers name hairy crab, horse mackerel, otoro and uni among the highlights, with matcha panna cotta to finish. The sake pairing is widely recommended. Seatings are fixed and the waiting area has only a few chairs, so arriving on time matters. Complaints are rare but pointed, covering fruit flies during one recent dinner and a curt drinks server at another. Service runs 5 to 11 p.m. Monday to Saturday and the room is dark on Sunday. Google reviewers average 4.9 across 258 ratings, and several call it the best meal of their lives.
