About The Wig Shop
Blacked-out windows and a double set of doors hide the room from Temple Place; inside, sheer curtains divide the seating into semi-private nooks, cordless brass lamps sit on gilded tables, and a backlit bottle wall climbs behind the bar. The cocktail list reads like a pop-art magazine, with nostalgic, campy names and some unusual combinations, and the food stays simple: hummus with warm pita, guacamole, steak skewers, fries and doughnuts. Some tables are shared, which one first-date reviewer ended up enjoying. Voices stay low enough to talk. It opens every night of the week from 5pm to 2am, and Google places it in the $20 to $40 band. The 4.0 rating reflects a split: many praise unusually warm staff, while others report 45-minute waits, a tight room and a single shared restroom stall. Time Out ranked it 12th on its 2026 list of Boston bars.
