About Grill 23 & Bar
Marble columns, mahogany panelling, brass lamp posts and a sweeping staircase to an upstairs dining room give the place a grand, old-Boston formality, with white tablecloths throughout and a busy bar by the door. For more than 40 years the kitchen has built its name on all-natural, dry-aged prime beef: the dry-aged ribeye, cap steak and steak frites lead the orders, with crab cakes, tuna tartare, beef carpaccio and tater tots alongside. The coconut cake is the dessert nearly everyone mentions. A wine list that has held Wine Spectator's Grand Award since 2017 anchors the bar. Service is the recurring headline, with servers requested by name and a valet praised for kindness to a family coming from Children's Hospital. Dinner runs from 5 p.m. nightly, until 10 or 10:30 at weekends and 9 on Sunday. It scores 4.6 across 2,528 Google reviews and tops Time Out's Boston steakhouse list.
