About The Catbird Seat
Seats wrap a U-shaped counter around the open kitchen, so every course is cooked, plated and often handed over by the chefs themselves, and talking with them is part of the evening. The format dates to 2011 and works as a residency: kitchens change hands, and the current team of Tiffani Ortiz and Andy Doubrava took over in 2024, ahead of the move to a larger fifth-floor room at 700 8th Avenue South. Dinner is a single changing tasting menu, recently listed at $195 a head before drinks, with alcoholic and zero-proof pairings that reviewers rate as highly as the food. Service runs Wednesday to Saturday from 5pm to 9pm, and bookings take parties of one to four. A 4.7 from more than 500 Google reviews and a Michelin star back up the reputation; diners call it the best meal of their trip, and note that combinations which sound odd on paper make sense once tasted.
