About Robert's Western World
A long, narrow room with a tiled floor, a bar running down one side and every inch of wall covered in neon beer signs, posters and memorabilia, ending at a small stage with just enough floor in front for two-stepping. The music sticks to classic country and western swing rather than chart covers, played by rotating bands from 10am (noon on Sundays) until 3am. The Recession Special is the order everyone mentions: a fried bologna sandwich, a bag of chips, a MoonPie and a can of PBR for a few dollars, and several reviewers call the place the best value downtown. It is packed most nights and loud enough that conversation takes effort, with a door team that one recent visitor found abrupt on a busy Friday. The crowd mixes regulars with visitors working their way along Broadway, and a 4.7 rating from nearly 5,800 Google reviews makes it the best-rated honky-tonk on the block.
