About Moody Tongue

Brewmaster Jared Rouben and his cousin Jeremy Cohn founded the brewery in 2014 around the idea of culinary brewing, and since moving to a larger Wabash Avenue building in 2019 it has run two rooms. The Dining Room serves a tasting menu with a beer pairing that converts self-described non-beer drinkers, the yuzu lager among the favorites; The Bar, a dark, roomy taproom with a fireplace, serves oysters on the half shell, small plates, beer flights and a towering German chocolate cake by the slice. Michelin stars have followed every year from 2021, and reviewers repeatedly describe it as the only brewery with one. Hours run Wednesday to Saturday from 4:30 to 10 PM, and seats at the bar get scarce at peak times. The dining room sits in the $100-plus band, and a party of five recently found a 20% gratuity added automatically. Reviews at 4.5 from 654 praise the beer above all.
