About Cariño
Chef Norman Fenton cooks within arm's reach of the counter seats here, and one reviewer compared the evening to eating at a friend's place. The main dinner is a Latin-inspired tasting menu that opens with a reworked chips-and-salsa amuse and moves through an oyster, a huitlacoche pasta the kitchen calls the Mexican truffle, aguachile and a wagyu taco. Later in the night the room switches to a taco omakase, a separate late seating that has become the restaurant's calling card. Dark green walls, leather banquettes and warm pendant lights keep the space small and close, and the soundtrack stays true to the Latin theme. Service runs Wednesday to Sunday from 6 PM to midnight, bookable on Tock. The 4.8 rating from 161 Google reviews is close to unanimous, with the rare dissent finding the flavors too sweet and short on spice and acid.
