About Husk
A lantern-lit sign on the lawn leads up the steps of an ornate red-brick mansion just south of downtown, where the old parlors now hold dining rooms and a long dark-wood bar sits beneath a coffered ceiling. The menu is built entirely around Southern ingredients and changes with the season, with much of it cooked over an ember-fired grill. Skillet cornbread, deviled eggs, fried chicken, catfish and candied collard greens with pimento cheese are the plates reviewers name, and the kitchen handles dietary restrictions well. Dinner is served every night from 5pm, until 10:30pm on Friday and Saturday, with brunch added on weekends from 10am to 2pm. With a 4.5 from more than 3,000 Google reviews, feedback is broadly warm about hospitality and consistency, and solo diners eating at the bar are well looked after. Tables fill with visitors and family celebrations, so waits without a booking are common.
