About Canvas Lounge
A bar hung with gothic lanterns under a pressed-tin ceiling glows red, purple and green at the front of this East Nashville venue, with a larger room behind for dancing, karaoke and a stage used for drag and trivia nights. Outside, a covered patio strung with pride flags wraps the building, and a garden courtyard holds a patchwork horse sculpture and a rainbow mural. Every other Saturday a gay farmers market sets up in the adjacent lot. The kitchen covers bar food done with some care, from wings and loaded potato skins to salads, and payment is card only. Doors open at 4pm on weekdays and 3pm at weekends, closing at 2am, or 3am on Friday and Saturday. Google scores it 4.2 from 237 reviews; regulars describe a friendly, unpretentious crowd and staff who make one drink turn into closing time, while the main complaint is the volume on busy party nights.
