About Xiquet by Danny Lledó

The main room is bright and spare, with white tablecloths, black pendant lamps and windows onto Wisconsin Avenue, and dessert moves to a separate bottle-lined lounge as a change of scene. The kitchen cooks over a live wood fire, and the tasting menu, around ten courses with pairings that push the bill near $400 a head, runs from jamón and bread to wood-fired Valencian rice topped with wagyu and truffle, each dish explained on its own printed card. Dinner is served Tuesday to Sunday from 5pm. Google gives it 4.4 across about 270 reviews, and recent opinion is divided. Admirers praise the presentation, the cards and attentive service; critics report over-salted early courses, slow pacing between plates, background music loud enough to drown out the servers and a strict deposit policy on missed bookings.
