About Silver Lyan
Ryan Chetiyawardana's first American bar sits below the Riggs Washington, reached through the old bank's vault with its heavy steel door, concrete walls, red velvet seating and lit glass cases along the walls. The current menu runs on playful twists of the classics, and reviewers name the Lochness Martini, Bigfoot Martini, Vanishing Manhattan and Boogeyman Old Fashioned, alongside zero-proof cocktails that earn equal praise, plus wine, beer and small plates. A separate fixed-seating counter, the Dishonesty Bar, is booked apart from the main room. Doors open at 5pm Tuesday to Friday, 4pm Saturday and 5pm Sunday, closing at midnight midweek and 1am on weekends; Monday is dark. Google rates it 4.7 across more than 500 reviews, with service singled out again and again; the rare dissent finds the drinks less inventive than the setting. Reservations are recommended, though walk-ins can join a waitlist.
