About Dante's HiFi
Down a mural-covered alley in Wynwood, a narrow wood-panelled room is lined floor to ceiling with record sleeves, reel-to-reel decks and turntables, and a wall of Polaroids records the guests who have played here. The music comes from the vinyl library of music director Rich Medina, leaning toward soul, jazz, funk and hip-hop, and it is played loud and clean enough that the sound is the point. Cocktails are short and well made, and the lighting stays low and amber. Seating works on reservations through Tock; there are a few bar stools, but walk-ins may be told to stand, and some recent reviewers felt the door and security enforce this too strictly. It opens Tuesday to Sunday at seven, closing at two, or three from Thursday to Saturday. Google shows 4.4 from just over 1,000 reviews, with a mixed-age crowd that gets livelier as the night goes on.
