About Bar Kaiju
An elevator ride up to the mezzanine of The Citadel leads to a small room washed in red light, with about a dozen seats at a pale counter, a few low tables, a wall papered in comic-book art and an old arcade cabinet in the corner. Every cocktail on the binder menu is a creature from world folklore, from King Kong to the Wendigo, printed as a playable trading card, and the drinks themselves lean Southeast Asian: one recent favourite mixes tequila with mangosteen, pandan and lemongrass. Bartenders present each glass with the story of its monster, a habit reviewers mention again and again. The kitchen sends out skewers and small plates, and the Bird Club pop-up adds fried chicken late on Fridays and Saturdays. Hours run from six until one, closed Mondays, and to two at weekends. Google shows 4.7 from about 180 reviews; seats go fast after nine.
