About Broken Shaker
Palms, string lights and a disco ball hang over the courtyard of the Freehand, where mismatched chairs in yellow, orange and green sit on brick paving around the pool and red loungers line the far edge. The bar started here as a pop-up in 2012 and grew into a group with outposts in other cities; this original earned a place on the World's 50 Best Bars list. Drinks are tropical and herb-heavy, served in tall glasses, and a short food menu covers burgers, mushroom tacos and sandwiches. Indoor rooms add a back bar and, on busier nights, music and dancing. It now opens only Thursday to Sunday, from five, closing at midnight on Thursday, one on Friday and Saturday and eleven on Sunday. Google holds 4.5 from about 2,460 reviews; a July visitor arrived to find it shut despite a booking, so checking before a trip across the causeway is sensible.
