About City Lights Rooftop
Set back from the towers on South McDowell Street, the terrace gets a rare wide view of the whole Uptown skyline rather than a slice of it, and the lit towers after dark give the bar its name. The space mixes shade sails and string lights over lounge sets and high-tops with a covered bar section, fire tables and a small indoor lounge. Drinks are the draw: signature craft cocktails from quick bartenders and a short menu of bar bites, which one reviewer found arriving in takeaway containers. It opens Wednesday to Sunday from 5pm, running until midnight and until 1am on Friday and Saturday; Monday and Tuesday are closed. Reviews (4.2 from almost 500) describe a quieter, more romantic rooftop than the Tryon Street towers, good for a date or a last drink, with service called fair rather than polished and little signage to guide first-timers up.
