About Charlotte Beer Garden
Beer is the whole point: reviewers count more than 400 taps, arranged in long walls of handles on each floor, and the list changes so often that it lives online and on Untappd rather than on a printed menu, with growlers to take home. The building climbs through three floors, from a courtyard of trees, pergolas and patio heaters to bars built around living tree trunks and a third-floor rooftop with city views. Food is pub fare meant to soak it up: burgers, pizza, pretzels, poutine, sliders and mac and cheese bites. It opens at 11am and runs until 2am every day, so late weekend nights are the busiest, and screens make it a game-day stop. Google gives it 4.3 from nearly 2,000 reviews; the selection wins praise, but several recent reviews describe heavy-handed bouncers and abrupt removals late in the night.
