About Sala Gold

Open every night of the year on Calle Luis de Velázquez in the old town, this is the headline room of a four-club group that also runs Theatro, La Comedia and Amazonia by Wengé. Each night carries its own billing: the student-leaning Eras Monday and ErasMusic on Wednesday, Paris La Nuit on Tuesday, Tekila on Thursday, GL:DN:HR on Friday, the flagship Pure Gold on Saturday and Vibras on Sunday. Production is the selling point — LED ceilings, lasers, confetti cannons, two giant screens and a five-by-three-metre hydraulic stage, with gold chain chandeliers hung over the bars. Five VIP areas take groups from twenty up to a hundred and fifty, and bottles arrive with sparklers. Reggaeton and commercial pop lead, with electronic sets later on. Doors open at half past ten and run to six, seven at weekends. Google rates it 3.5 across 4,600 reviews, praising the atmosphere and faulting security in roughly equal measure.
